Lasha Zhvania

Lasha Zhvania was born on October 14, 1973.

In 1995 he graduated from Tbilisi State University and obtained a degree in the International Law and International Relations with a specialty in International Law.

From 1995 to 1998 Lasha Zhvania was a researcher in International Human rights and Refugee Law at Tbilisi State University.

In 1995 he took the Courses for Political and Diplomatic Studies (CPDS) at the University of Leeds, UK; while in 1998 he was enrolled in the Courses for Human Rights at Birmingham University, UK.

In 1993 Lasha Zhvania interned at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. In 1995 he was appointed as the Third Secretary at the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

From 1995 to 1998 he worked as the Third Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Division for Africa, Australia and Pacific Rim States and the Second Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, CIS Countries Department, Division for Multilateral relations.

From 1998 to 2002 Lasha Zhvania served as the Consul-Counsellor at the Embassy of Georgia to the State of Israel.

From 2002 to 2003 he worked as the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and also was a Member of Anti-Corruption Council of Georgia.

Lasha Zhvania was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in 2004.

From 2005 to 2008 he served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the State of Israel and the Republic of Cyprus.

In 2008 Lasha Zhvania was elected as a Member of the Parliament of Georgia.

From 2008 to 2009 he served as the Minister of Economic Development of Georgia.

In 2009 Lasha Zhvania resigned and established his consultancy company “Global Uni Group”.

From 2010 to 2018 he headed the International Foundation for Science, Culture and Spirituality of the Patriarch of All Georgia.

From December, 2018 to May, 2019 Lasha Zhvania served as the Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia.

From August 2, 2019 he is appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the State of Israel.

He speaks fluent English, Hebrew and Russian.

In 2004 Lasha Zhvania was given the diplomatic rank of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
